With our Office Pro policy, you can choose from two types of coverage on your business premises: Broad Form or Limited Form on buildings.Coverage on contents is automatically Broad Form.

Limited Form Building Coverage:
With limited form coverage your building is insured against direct physical loss or damage caused by the following perils: fire, lightning, explosion, impact by aircraft, spacecraft or land vehicle, riot, vandalism, malicious acts, smoke, leakage from fire protective equipment, wind storm or hail.

Broad Form Building and Contents Coverage:
Portage Mutual's Broad Form Office Pro coverage gives you peace of mind knowing your business property, office equipment, contents and records are insured against all risks of direct physical loss or damage.

Whether you choose Broad Form or Limited Form coverage for your business premises, all Portage Mutual Office Pro policies include excellent coverage for:

  • replacement cost on property and equipment.
  • signs on premises. - "New"
  • blanket glass. - "New"
  • temporary locations.
  • newly acquired locations.
  • inflation protection.
  • valuable papers.
  • actual loss sustained (Profits Form) on loss of income.
  • extra expense incurred to resume business.
  • commercial general liability, including legal liability for tenants.
  • loss of money, securities and money orders due to counterfeiting and other crime, including employee dishonesty.

Office Pro provides plenty of flexibility to accommodate special situations. Your Portage Mutual broker will be happy to explain the many policy extensions and enhanced - limit options available to your business.

  • Extra renovation/rebuilding costs due to building by-laws.
  • Sewer back-up.

Discounts and deductibles.
With Office Pro, you can select the standard $500 deductible, or amend your policy to accommodate deductibles of $250, $1000 or $2500. lower deductible amounts result in a modest raise in you annual premium, while higher deductible amounts will help you keep your costs in line. A range of discounts is available, depending on your building and claims history. Here are a few examples:

  • Sprinkler Discount: 30 per cent if you have an automatic sprinkler system, supervised by a central fire station.
  • Claims-free Discount: 5 per cent based on a 3-year claims-free status (includes newly established businesses).
  • Claims-free Renewal Bonus: an extra 5 per cent upon your policy renewal, if you remain claims-free.
